Noelle Hannibal Academy Director  ***2nd Year With The Academy***

Bio: Noelle Hannibal is an actress/singer who appeared in the film “Star Trek: First Contact.” She has the unique distinction of portraying the first female Vulcan on Earth. She has also appeared in “Star Trek: Voyager” as a Taresian woman and “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” as part of the Sisterhood of Jhe. Originally from Los Angeles, Noelle made her professional theatre debut playing Chrissy in Hair, then moved to Ireland to tour the country starring in Lock Up Your Daughters (Hilaret). Los Angeles theatre credits include Chicago (Velma), Gypsy (Mazeppa) and Miss Saigon (Gigi). Montreal theatre credits include South Park (Sheila), Gefilte Fish Chronicles: The Musical (Basha), The Virgin Courtesan (Arielle), Rent (Mimi), Merton of the Movies (Countess), Chess (Florence), The Who’s Tommy (Mrs. Walker), Hair (Sheila), The Last Five Years (Cathy), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Yitzhak), Carrie (Margaret White - META nomination) and Lizzie (Emma Borden). Noelle currently resides in Montreal where she runs her theatre company, In the Wings Promotions. She also performs regularly in concerts, cabarets and musical theatre productions as well as travelling the world to appear as a guest at Comic Cons and Pop Culture events.

Elijah Winfrey Instructor ***NEW For 2023***

Bio: Elijah Winfrey is an independent filmmaker based out of Massena, NY. His production company, Elijah Winfrey Studios has produced 2 feature films since 2020. His first film "Ballad Of Billy Badass" has been picked up by multiple streaming platforms including Tubi Tv. His Second feature film "Captain Corpse" is currently in Postproduction and his team is looking to enter pre-production on his third feature "Fourth Coast Killer" in the near future. Winfrey hopes his experience running independent movie productions will help students develop their own skills this year.

What's NEW For 2023? 

For year two of the Film Massena Academy, we are opening registration to all High School Students and adults! We are also expanding our class schedule from 8 classes to 12! Classes will once again be at the Massena Public Library. This year instead of producing 1 film as a group each student will be responsible for producing 2 of their own short films! We will also be handing out individual awards for students who excel throughout the course! Students will need to attend 80% of the classes to receive a certificate. This year students will do a deep dive into Hollywood's history and receive their very own copy of the critically acclaimed novel "This Was Hollywood".

***Hal Smith Award*** 

About The Person: He is remembered as an American actor and the voice for animated characters in a career spanning over 40 years. He is credited in over 300 film and television productions. Born in Michigan, he graduated from Massena High School in 1936. He was one of two tenors in the school choir. From 1936 to 1943, he was known as an "impersonator, vocalist, musician" during his dis jockey days at the radio station WIBX in Utica, New York. In 1943, he joined the United States Army Air Forces, Special Services Unit, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was highly decorated. He was discharged in 1946, moving then to Hollywood. Though he was one of the most prolific cartoon voices in the entertainment history, including his role as the original voice of the animated character of "Elmer Fudd," most of his work was performed for Hanna-Barbera productions. His voice was used in the 1977 animated movie "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh." He will be most fondly remembered as "Otis Campbell," the lovable "town drunk" on the television series "Andy Griffith Show" from 1960 to 1969. Ironically, he never touched alcohol throughout his life. In later years, he used the character "Otis Campbell" in Mothers Against Drunk Driving ads.
